Ghana Christian Missions our partners in Ghana, West Africa
Aiding the Church in Ghana, West Africa
Ghana Christian Mission (GMC) works exclusively in Ghana, West Africa and has four urban churches in the region -- two of which have elementary schools. GMC also operates all 10 FAME clinics and has 18 ministers in the field in Northern, Ghana.
Brother Emmanuel Alori coordinated and distributes all of the donated supplies we (GFTN) send thorough FAME. He writes. "Debbie and Jerry thank you for your love for the people of the Kingdom. The items you send us in Ghana have been very useful and helpful to us. I distribute them to the various clinics and churches up in Northern Ghana. Gift for the Nations (GFTN) plays and important role to us in Ghana. The nurses and pastors show a lot of appreciation for all that is sent. They are praying and thanking God for you and your work. The used clothing is give to church members and needy people all around the northern area." He went on to share that most of the clinics do not have exam tables or beds, and that the beds they do have are "wooden beds which are not able to stand the heat - they ruin within a short period of time."
So we began to pray that the Lord would provide beds. I spoke about the need for beds and other equipment on a "Missions Tour" of North Central Kansas in late 2007. The Lord moved the hearts of Malcolm and Norma Stamm of Washington, Kansas. Malcolm collected supplies from his church and put an ad in the local paper letting people know he was gathering medical supplies. He also visited the Washington County Hospital to inquire about supplies they might have. In all he had a trailer and truck load to supplies that he brought to Mound Valley. Most of the supplies went to FAME, and we collected 7 beds for Ghana and three exam tables. We also collected everything needed for the beds - down to bed pans! Mattresses came from various places. Bedding came from here and there - except for fitted sheets. On one of last days before shipment left Mound Valley, Julie Rice a friend came over to help me work supplies. Among them were two sacks, when we opened one of the sacks there were seven fitted sheet! Julie said, "This is when you know this is way bigger than us!" How bless to be a part of gathering gift for Ghana Christian Mission and the FAME clinics in Ghana. |

Updates - Haiti Collection
A story from Haiti that will touch your heart...
“Debbie, when I was in Haiti, volunteering at North West Haiti Christian Mission I was able to give a Mission Gift Bag to Marie Louis, a young mom, just 26 years old.
Here is her story told by Melonnie of when she first came to the Mission and attached are a few pictures: When young Marie came to the Mission with her baby, she was very sick, and they were hungry and in need of basic necessities.
We fed and treated her at the mission and kep t her baby boy of 15 months at the near by orphanage while she recovered.
She was so skinny that she looks like just skin an dbones. She told us that she had no husband and her family could not help her. As Melonnie and I gave the blanket from Gifts for the Nations to her, she smiled and told us that she was hapy because she did nothave a blanket for her baby to sleep on. The following Sunday morning Magdala came and asked me to find clothes for Marie as she wanted to go to church. I gave her one of my skirts and Susan find a skirt small enough for her tiny body. I was so hapy when I found her in the crowed chruch and was able to sit next to her. She showed me that her feet looked much better but said that they still hurt. I help her feet and prayed, held her knees and prayed and just pretty much help onto her hands for the entire service. I just kept rubbing them for the entire service while listenting to what she was trying to tell me.
There was a point where she tugged on my hand to help her stand for one of the songs.
Watching her worship was amazing. She sang and prayed, her hands raised high.
At the end of the service she tugged on my hand again. This time it was for the invitation. I helped her up and then let her go. I watched as she accepted Christ.
It was a beautiful moment to witness. I felt such comfort knowing that she was turning it all over to Him. That she isn't going to try to carry these burdens alone anymore.” Melonnie
